I'm sorry to be lame like this and ask people for gifts, but since most of my girlfriends live far away, I can't really have a real baby shower. Toffi and I made a long list of all the things we need to buy in the next two months, but after browsing in one of my baby books, it dawned on me that we had forgotten something.
Assuming all goes according to plan, I'm going to be breastfeeding for at least six months, and one of the things I'll need right from the very beginning are nightgowns and tops that are appropriate for nursing. And chances are, I'll need A LOT of them! In case you're not familiar with what these look like, here's a link to a nursing nightgown from the GAP. Some nightgowns have buttons down the front instead of the overlapping bust. I would need either a small or medium size (my pregnancy bra size is 34 D/DD, and that's likely to increase by one cup size once I start breastfeeding), depending on the individual item. Chances are, I'll need a medium at first and will go back to a small after two months or so.
So if any of you gals are wondering what you could get me in expectation of the baby, a nursing top or nightgown would be most appreciated! I don't want anything fancy - comfy and practical are the keywords - but obviously it shouldn't be hideous either. ;-) And since it's the sort of thing I probably can't have too many of, there's no danger of too many people giving me something along these lines. Thanks in advance!!

a final teaser
It won't be long before I can post photos taken with a normal camera. Until then, here's the last ultrasound image. Our little one currently weighs 1,600 grams (3.52 lbs) and measures 42 cm (16.54 inches) from head to toe. In case you're wondering, these measurements are exactly as they should be at 31 weeks.

birthday fun
So another birthday has passed, the last one without baby. Soon I'm going to be a mom - isn't it wild? People will congratulate me on Mother's Day, and celebrating Christmas and Easter will revolve around t
he little one. It doesn't seem real sometimes.
Anyway, it was a really nice day, followed by a nice Easter weekend. At midnight, Toffi gave me a birthday bouquet and the first of several gifts - a beautiful, hardback edition of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales, replete with colorful illustrations. Since my birthday fell on Good Friday, Toffi didn't have to work. So the next day we slept in, had a nice breakfast and assembled the baby wardrobe
we bought a while back. Naf came by and finished our latest home improvement projects, including a system of wall-mounted shelves for our bathroom. He also gave me a beautiful Egyptian wrap for my birthday, which I wore to dinner that evening. Dinner consisted of a caprese salad, tagliolini with truffle sauce and a decadent chocolate pastry at one of Berlin's best Italian restaurants.
On Saturday, we enjoyed the sunny weather at
brunch with friends and went for a nice long walk through our neighborhood. In the evening, we had a small group of friends over for dinner who were in from out of town. Toffi made vegetarian chili, and I made salads and dips. And today we've just been lazy. I took a 3-hour nap this afternoon (unintentionally), and we all cuddled with Oko, who's been doing very well since he started taking heart medication a week ago.
Now it's almost time to go to bed again. At this point in pregnancy, I'm beginning to have less energy again. It's really quite exhausting to carry an extra 20-25 pounds, especially when it's all concentrated in one area! So I hope everyone has had a lovely Easter. Sweet dreams!
